Marcus J. Shambry

Pastor

Pastor Marcus J. Shambry was born on July 5th 1980. He was the first and only child of his parents union. At age 7 he was baptized by Pastor Joe Hardy of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church. However, at the tender age of 7 Pastor Shambry did not truly  understand what a profession of faith was and was later baptized again at age 21. Pastor Shambry had a true conversion experience as a teenager and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal LORD and Savior at age 17.

Pastor Shambry was educated in the Portland Public School System in Multnomah County. He is a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School class of 1998. In 1999 he began his college career at Portland Community College where he studied business marketing. After one year at PCC, Pastor Shambry felt the call of God on his life to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and wanted to prepare himself for pastoral Ministry.  Pastor Shambry transferred and enrolled at North Portland Bible College of Portland Oregon to begin his biblical education. After finishing his program of completion at North Portland Bible College in 2003, Pastor Shambry continued his education at Andersonville Theological Seminary of Camilla, GA where he studied for his bachelor's in biblical studies and his master's in theology. Pastor Shambry enrolled at Gateway seminary in the spring of 2018 in pursuit of his next Masters in Divinity which will hopefully be followed by earning his doctorate in preaching.

Pastor Shambry preached his first sermon on August 15th 1999 at the age of 19 and was officially licensed as a minister to preach the gospel at age 22 by Dr. Raymon H. Edwards Sr. Pastor of True Vine Missionary Baptist Church of Portland OR. Pastor Shambry was ordained in 2009 at age 29 under the leadership of Pastor Anthony B. Harris of Bible Fellowship Community Church in Vancouver WA along with a host of other pastors from the surrounding area.

Pastor Shambry has served in many capacities of ministry and Community Development. He has served as a youth leader, youth pastor, and assistant pastor before responding to God's call to plant and become the lead Pastor of Project Truth Community Church. Pastor Shambry also has a passion for youth and young adults, in his community.

He first realized this passion at Elevate Oregon where pastor Shambry served as a Teacher in the classroom and mentor outside of it at Parkrose High School of Portland OR from September 2011 to September 2013. At Elevate Pastor Shambry met some incredible young people who completely changed his life. The second organization is Self Enhancement Incorporated where Pastor Shambry served as the In school coordinator for the under served African American students of Reynolds High School in Troutdale Oregon. And the third organization that Pastor Shambry had the awesome privilege of working with was S.C.A.F.E which is an acronym for Second Chances Are For Everyone.  Pastor Shambry served on the S.C.A.F.E board of directors where he was afforded the opportunity to contribute to the direction of this amazing organization.

These three organizations taught Pastor Shambry valuable lessons in leadership, patience, teamwork and compassion. In January of 2013 Pastor Shambry was compelled by God to begin the planning process for planting a new church in Vancouver Washington that would be later called Project Truth Community Church.

The mission that God impressed upon Pastor Shambry's heart for Project Truth was to preach the gospel, teach the gospel, and share the gospel, while living our lives in harmony with the gospel for the glory of God.

Pastor Shambry has been blessed with three incredible sons, Marcus J. Shambry Jr, Mekhi Shambry and baby boy Jamear Shambry. Pastor Shambry is also an Avid Reader, writer, lover of Sports and lover of music. Pastor Shambry has a vested interest in all people especially the undervalued and marginalized. Pastor Shambry says "I believe that the growth, maturity, and longevity of Project Truth will be predicated on how clear the gospels taught, how well we love people, and how committed we are to living life together for the glory of Christ."
